Moonlight Challenge (25km trek 913 elevation) · 25 November 2023

The Charlie Froud Foundation has been set up in memory of Charlie, a 14 year-old boy who died in October 2008 when the light aircraft he was travelling in, crashed in the Wicklow Mountains, Ireland. The foundation supports search and rescue services in Ireland and other good causes locally.

Story

As a team, we are coming together to participate in the Moonlight Challenge on the 25th November 2023. The moonlight challenge is a 25km night walk through the Wicklow mountains guided by the full moon and is a big fundraiser for the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team.

Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue are a team of volunteers who provide a professional search and rescue service, free of charge, 365 days of the year. Their rescue base, vehicles, equipment and training are all funded through a combination of grant aid, donations and fundraising events. They rely heavily on the generosity of donors to maintain this vital service.

8 walkers from Charlie’s home town in Bristol are walking in the Wicklow mountains to raise funds for the charity, this includes Charlie’s younger sister Georgia, together with the Forss Family, Steve, Kate, Joe, Sophie & Gigi also joining the team are Jack Bartlett and Luke Jones.
