Story

10 year old Hudson, together with Ruth and Charlie are raising money for The RAF Benevolent Fund by flying the Dambusters original route on the 80th anniversary or as close to that date as possible, as it will be weather dependant. Flying the original route, there and back in one day in a single engine aircraft which is slower than the original Lancaster bomber will be a challenge in itself. Hudsons role is to navigate using old fashioned charts like they did in 1943. So flying the exact route and getting all the correct airspace permissions as well as flying over the channel and north sea needs lots of planning and will be no easy task. You will be able to follow the flight on Flight Radar24. Details of aircraft registration will be given closer to the time.

The RAF Benevolent Fund provides a range of support aimed at serving and former RAF personnel and their dependants. This includes welfare breaks, grants to help with financial difficulty and getting about inside and outside the home, specialist advice on benefits and support with care needs, as well as support for young people through their Airplay programme.

Wish us luck with the weather as so far this year it has been pretty awful!
