Our vision is for every family supporting a child with a life threatening diagnosis to receive hands-on charitable support whilst in hospital. Our focus is practical, emotional, mental health and wellbeing support for children and their families.

Story

The Millie Wright Children's Charity exists to address inequalities in hands-on charitable support for families taking care of children with life threatening conditions. It provides practical, emotional and financial help to parents, carers and their wider families.

The charity recognises the strain and uncertainty arising from having a seriously ill child and is a big advocate of wellbeing and good mental health.

"We are a truly hands-on charity - our initiatives address basic needs like giving parents access to food, drinks whilst on the wards so that they don't have to leave their child's bedside. Our Saturday Suppers initiative is extremely popular".

Locally, the charity also provides toiletries, birthday boxes, hardship payments, a laundry service, referrals to other charities and signposting to other forms of help. It also campaigns on national issues.

The charity is about to appoint its first Family Support Worker and begin funding weekend play for children on the wards.

About the charity
