Cha Cha Chai - Rebuilding homes in Pakistan
In 2022, the devastating floods in Pakistan left over 33 million people in dire need of aid. Villages were washed away and many submerged under water, leaving countless families homeless and vulnerable.
Cha Cha Chai has partnered up with Islamic Relief to help rebuild Pakistan and bring hope to those who have lost everything.
Recently, we visited the village of Salah Jatoi, home to 577 individuals who have been deeply affected by the floods after losing everything. The village has been completely destroyed, leaving its residents homeless and in dire need of basic necessities such as shelter, education and medical facilities.
Islamic Relief Pakistan will also train 120 local volunteers, skilled and unskilled labourers on the construction of shelters. The training will also include the design of disability-inclusive shelters, in accordance with accessibility standards.
To help rebuild Salah Jatoi, Cha Cha Chai has launched a 3-phase project to provide homes, a school and medical facilities for the affected families. Our goal is to build 81 homes by the end of Ramadan, and we need your support!
This Ramadan, help us raise funds to complete phase 1 and to build homes for the people of Salah Jatoi. Across our 26 stores, your purchases and contributions will help us restore normality and give dignity to those that have had everything washed away.
The structure of the homes
Each shelter contains a 14'x14' room manufactured using thick brick walls to ensure the structure holds.
In Dadu region, the shelters are constructed with mud bricks, bamboo, unslaked limes, crush and sand.
Each home will include one room, one stove, one kitchen and one toilet. For the homes needing accessibility, ramps, widened doors, commode chairs in toilet facilities will be added.
