Story
From my own experience, I know the importance of the last mile of the life of a person affected by a terminal illness passing with dignity and affection. That's why I'm raising money for Martlets Hospice, for the care and support they provide to patients who, one day, could be any of us.
“Martlets is a local charity providing essential care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas. Our expert teams provide the very best care and support, helping patients and their loved ones to live life to the full during the precious time they have together.
We help people do the things they love with the time they have.
Most people receive care from us in their own homes. Others choose to spend their final days on our inpatient unit, or to join us as inpatients for respite care or symptom management. Outpatients also visit our hospice for pain relief, physiotherapy, counselling, welfare advice and social activities; some of these services were adapted during the COVID pandemic and continue to be offered via telephone and online video sessions.
Martlets care is free thanks to the support of local people, businesses, and trusts. An NHS grant covers a portion of our costs, but we rely on the community to fund most of our vital services.”
