Story
We're off on our bikes!
Anyone that knows us knows that we love our bikes and love a challenge, however this will be the biggest yet for us. We're heading out on a self supported adventure across Europe, starting in Italy and finishing at the top of Norway, 4140km in less than 21 days.
Despite riding more than 200km a day in whatever conditions come our way we're hoping it'll be an amazing event where we ride our bikes over mountain passes, alongside lakes, through famous cities and in vast Scandinavian forests, meeting many people as we travel through communities. We will attempt to share updates / photos as we go through the checkpoints and countries, so please visit the Penrith MRT social media sites to see how we're doing.
James is making the ride a little more difficult by using a cargo bike, at 22kg it's over twice the weight of our standard bikes and that's without our minimal luggage (tent/sleeping bags etc). At least we have plenty of space for stockpiling food after a supermarket visit!
As with all events, you can plan all you want but the unexpected moments create the journey so we're positive it'll be a great experience that we can smile about at a later date but not necessarily expecting every moment to be full of laughter and fun.
We've both been members of MRT since 2017 and see this an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for our local team based in the Lake District. The team is made up of volunteers and relies upon donations to remain operational helping those who need assistance in the fells.
