Story
On the 23rd of March 2025, I will be running the Reading Half Marathon in support of FitzRoy and On Track. FitzRoy offers a range of services for adults with learning disability, autism, complex mental health support needs and acquired brain injury.
This fundraiser is in memory of Lucy Devlin - a wonderfully talented, funny and caring person whom I was very fortunate to know while sharing a house with her in Guildford. It was a great loss to us all when Lucy tragically passed away in December following a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest.
FitzRoy was very close to Lucy's heart for the work it does to support those with learning disabilities, like her brother Daniel, and particularly the On Track day service he attends. It is clear that this service is making a real positive impact on people's lives, and I hope that the money raised from this fundraiser will support them in continuing their great work.
FitzRoy transforms lives every day by supporting people with learning disabilities to do the simple things that make a really big difference to their everyday lives.
Lucy was one of the people who came along to support me when I ran my first ever 10K in Brighton in 2023, so it only feels right that I would run my first half marathon in her memory. I didn't consistently train in 2024, but I now have a clear plan and I will be posting regular updates as I progress.
Our vision is a society where people are treated as equals, regardless of their disability, and our mission is to transform lives by supporting people with learning disabilities to lead the lives they choose.
Every donation is greatly appreciated.
