Story
When I was younger, swimming was a huge part of my life. I swam competitively for Adwick ASC, specialising in backstroke, and loved every moment in the water. I trained twice a week and thrived on the discipline and joy it brought. But as University and adult life took over, regular exercise gradually slipped to the sidelines.
Now, inspired by my desire to set a positive example for my girls, the young people at the charity I work for, and the incredible athletes of the Olympics, I’ve rekindled my love for swimming!
After finding my rhythm again, and with encouragement from Lindsy, the director at Active Fusion, I’ve decided to challenge myself: I’m aiming to swim 50km by the end of the year to raise funds for the When You Tri campaign.
At the moment, I’m swimming 1.2 km per session, twice a week. By my calculations, that will take me to 36km by the year’s end. But to really push myself, I’m planning to increase my swimming time, improve my speed and endurance, and hit that 50km goal!
All of this, of course, while juggling being a wife, mum, full-time worker, school governor, treasurer for another charity, and even Christmas fair organiser! I’m also hoping to arrange a swimming session with my girls so they can join me for a final push towards my target.
I know times are tough, but any donation, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated. Your support will go towards helping the children and young people of South Yorkshire lead active, fulfilling lives and be the best they can be.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
