Story
I’m running the Great North Run to raise money for Love for Louis and Muscular Dystrophy UK.
As many of you will know, my best friend Sarah’s little boy Louis was diagnosed with Becker muscular dystrophy when he was just three years old. Over the last 10 years, and especially over the last 18 months, I have been totally blown away by how Sarah, Sam and all the family have shown such resilience and love in the face of this cruel, progressive disease.
As I’m running, I will think of them. But most of all, I will think of Louis. Despite now not being able to walk, Louis retains his unique strength of character, tenacity, and infectious laughter.
So if you can spare anything at all, please sponsor me and help to raise some money for MDUK to fund research into this horrible disease.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 111,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions. They are making a difference today, providing vital information and support to help people live as independently as possible. They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments.
Thank you.
