Story
I will be fighting in a boxing match on 29th July 2023 and am looking to raise awareness and much needed funds for Papyrus the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide and in memory of Lucy West.
In November 2021, Lucy, the beautiful 17 year old daughter of parents Jo and Ben West and wonderful big sister to Katie and affectionate granddaughter sadly decided that this world was too much for her and tragically took her own life.
Lucy was the most incredibly caring, funny, sensitive and talented star and also an amazing swimmer - with the butterfly being her speciality stroke. The loss of Lucy has left an unimaginable hole in so many hearts that will remain forever.
Lucy would want us all to do whatever is possible to prevent this tragedy from happening to other young people so I hope this boxing challenge will enable me to collect funds in memory of Lucy's legacy as well raising further awareness and vital funding for my chosen charity Papyrus.
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide, whose mission is dedicated to the desperately sad issue of suicide in young people and to providing support to those who believe there are no options for help in their darkest hour.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. On average 5 young people take their lives each day and research shows that with appropriate early intervention and support, suicide in young people can be prevented. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK.
Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
Please help me to collect funds in memory of Lucy and for this truly worthwhile cause. Any donations will be sincerely appreciated and most importantly, I hope will go some way to helping another young person in their greatest hour of need.
Thank you, Cass.
