Story

In memory of our lovely Dad, Neal Gilbert, on April 27th 2025, I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for the incredible Sky B Ward at Queen’s Hospital. Sky B is a dedicated inpatient unit that supports acute oncology and haematology patients.

Our Dad sadly lost his brave battle to high-grade B-cell CNS lymphoma and underwent a rigorous treatment plan to fight this rare cancer. Due to the nature of his illness, he required extended hospital stays and isolation, and was receiving care on the Sky B Ward. I’m hoping to raise funds to help improve the facilities on the ward, including things like TVs, which are vital for patients who are separated from their families. From my personal experience, I’ve seen just how much comfort something as simple as a TV can bring during these difficult times. I will also be in touch with the ward to see what other items would make a difference, depending on how much we can raise.

The staff at Sky B go above and beyond for their patients, creating a positive and supportive environment, even in the most challenging of times. Their care has brought so much comfort to my dad and our family, helping us stay strong and positive through it all.

I’m so proud of my dad and the incredible strength and courage he showed throughout his treatment. Running this marathon will be tough for me, but it’s nothing compared to what he went through.

If you’re able to donate, I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference and go directly towards improving the ward and supporting the patients there.

Thank you again for your generosity.
