Who will you walk for? This year thousands of people will feel it all and walk for everyone affected by dementia. By taking part in Memory Walk, you will be providing help and hope to everyone living with dementia now and in the future.

Story

Alzheimer's Walk is very personal to me, having lost my nana to this horrendous disease. She was a very special nana as all nanas are, but she was my nana. She was stolen from us piece by piece, eventually not knowing who we were.

I feel fortunate being the oldest grandchild, I knew the caring, loving person she was before this horrible disease grabbed hold of her, taking her away piece by piece until she didn’t know any of us or what she was doing.

She was cared for by my grandpa and mum for several years until she was placed into a care home for safety.

I’ve seen first-hand how Alzheimer’s takes hold of the person and how it effects the family around them.

This is why I’m walking for Alzheimer's, to try and fund a cure so that other families don’t have to watch their loved one slip away in front of their eyes!

Home Instead Nottingham, Ilkeston and Hucknall, and West Bridgford are proud to announce our very own Alzheimer's Memory Walk 2024, dedicated to the memory of all past and present clients. On 21st September at 10.30am, we will embark on a heartfelt 7.5-mile journey, starting from our Ilkeston and Hucknall office and concluding at our Nottingham office. Our dedicated care team of key players and Care Professionals will join us in this meaningful event.

Walking with Purpose

Home Instead has been instrumental in supporting countless clients and their families, helping them live well with Dementia. This walk is more than just a physical challenge; it's a tribute to the incredible individuals we've had the honour to care for and a pledge to continue our mission for those we will serve in the future.

The Impact of Your Support

Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure. We know it is scary but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. We owe it to the 900,000 people across the UK currently living with dementia to campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this.

Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer's Society you don't need to do anything and it's the most efficient way to fundraise. So, who will you walk for? #MemoryWalk
