On 20th October I will be running the Great South Run in Portsmouth, raising money for Smile4Wessex and the Wessex Neurological Centre in memory of my wonderful father in law, Andrew Waters, who we sadly lost last year unexpectedly following an accident doing the thing he loved (and did every day), riding his bike. Before he passed, he was cared for by the Neurology unit at Southampton hospital and Smile4Wessex is the charity linked to that unit.

The charity does brilliant work to improve the quality of care and range of treatments offered to patients, improve the facilities for patients, staff and relatives and facilitate research into neurological conditions that will have a direct bearing on patient care or further the understanding of such conditions

Andrew was cared for with such dignity and respect in his final days. As a family going through the hardest time of our lives, we were shown every kindness and such amazing support from everyone we encountered.
