As you may know, I have recently been affected by breast cancer. This has turned my life and that of my children and my family upside down. During this very difficult time, Macmillan have been so supportive to me in terms of financial advice, emotional and practical support. A particular mention to Karen Kelly and Caitlin from the finance department for everything they have done for me. Before I was diagnosed I had taken up hiking with a great bunch of people. I was going from strength to strength with it. It helped me find a real sense of achievement after a difficult few years in my life for various reasons. Unfortunately my diagnosis has meant I haven’t been able to do lots of the things I love doing including hiking. This hike means a great deal to me because it takes place exactly a year to the day of my diagnosis and it is also giving me a way of raising funds for Macmillan so that they can continue to help others who are living with or are affected by cancer. This hike will be a challenge for me as I am still receiving active treatment but it is something that I am determined to achieve with the support of my family and friends.

Thanks for supporting our fundraising. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
