I have a friend who has suffered with ME for over 30 years. I have seen her battle the condition in countless ways, trying to return to a normal, healthy life in the early days and then adapting to her ‘new normal’ as years went by. ME is a cruel life-altering condition, made extra tough for many years by the skepticism of the medical community. Since the start of the Covid pandemic and the emergence of Long Covid as a post-viral condition, similarities have been made between this and ME and there is a much stronger recognition of its existence. I’ve seen my fit and healthy son suffer with long Covid, from which he is slowly recovering, and wish there could have been more to help him than just rest.

I’m keen to raise money to support any research into these cruel, little-understood illnesses, to discover why they affect some people and for potential treatments to be developed.
