Caroline's fundraiser for Somerville Heart Foundation

hair shave · 3 April 2025
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm raising money for Red Socks by having my head shaved - going full GI Jane if you will! Red Socks was conceived by an extraordinary young woman that I have had the pleasure and privilege of knowing since she was a baby - who within hours of birth had major open heart surgery.
At Southampton hospital Red socks are given out to patients to wear on the ward - and these Red Socks have become a sign of solidarity and love through the many procedures she has undergone over the years.
While also coming to symbolise the hope and healing offered to young people by a number of rehabilitation and recovery charities. In the past funds have been raised with dinner dances and a sponsored trip to Everest base camp too!
Why the hair shave? Last year was perhaps the most gruelling of her life with multiple surgeries and extensive stays in ICU and further life changing ramifications for Ellen. She has tackled this with her customary resilience and breath-taking glass half full attitude, but to add insult to injury lost her beautiful hair.
I know times are tough but if you can spare a bit to support the Red Socks work then please donate what you can. The charity that has been chosen by Red Socks for this event is the Somerville Foundation - who do amazing work for young people and adults born with a heart condition.
NB. This page replaces the Red Socks crowd funding page as it enable collection of gift aid. All monies pledged on the other page will be sent to the Somerville Heart Foundation.
