Caroline's fundraiser for Marie Curie

Sponsored Hair Shave · 3 April 2025
I'm doing this for a number of reasons and in celebration of a number of friends and family who have faced a cancer diagnosis and all that that brings with it.
Last year one of my oldest, dearest friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have no doubt that she will be well again but right now what she is going through is horrible - and there is nothing I can do. Losing her hair almost within moments after her first chemo was a shocking identity challenge.
We have talked and laughed about this in recent weeks as wigs might now become the new handbags of her shopping focus! I will sport my GI Jane in her honour and indeed for all those I love that have been through this journey.
Of all the charities that were discussed - this was her choice and Marie Curie is very close to my own heart too. If you can spare a couple of quid in these difficult times it would be appreciated. Here's some information about the charity:
Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
Marie Curie is a charity working across the UK and we need your support to do our vital work.
If you have a few extra pounds to spare this event is also fund raising for Somerville Heart Foundation, supporting adults with congenital heart conditions justgiving.com/page/caroline-martin-2
