I have long been involved with Unscene Suffolk, which provides participative music and drama activities for adults in Suffolk who are visually impaired. When I became severely sight impaired I thought I would never want to mix with other visually impaired people, but since becoming involved with both drama and and singing groups at Unscene, I have built deep and lasting friendships, reducing my isolation, and benefitting my mental health.

Unscene Suffolk is reliant on funding from grant making trusts and private donations. These are getting harder to find in the present economic climate. Being visually impaired has not stopped me from taking on physical challenges, and doing the ZipLine gives me the opportunity of a thrilling experience at the same time as raising funds for a charity close to my heart.
