Story
It's incredible to think that Caroline and I have been organising this sponsored ride for the last 46 years! We started it when we were still in the Pony Club wanting to raise money for a friend who had been diagnosed with cancer. Over the years the Ride has gone from strength to strength, thousands of people have taken part, raising over £1,000,000 for many national and local charities.
The ride takes place over a 10 mile course across the beautiful scenery of Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park and to make it a bit more fun everyone dresses up in Fancy Dress. Before we start the ride there is a wonderful parade down Wimbledon Village High Street, so come along and show your support.
This year I am raising money for the Wimbledon & Putney Commons Conservators, a registered Charity. It has many demands on its resources and with the equestrian facilities requiring extensive maintenance and improvement it is up to us the horse riders to raise the funds to do this to ensure that they remain open for many years to come. Horse riding in London is very sadly declining and with your help we can safeguard it for the future.
