Story

Carl and Bev's event is called The Big Adventure and our intention is to each ride the same distance as the original event 1000 miles using a number of organised cycle events on road and gravel between March and the end of September 2024, rather than in a week as per the original event.

My husband Carl has an incurable and rare form of Renal Cancer which came to live with us almost 4 years ago.

It did go for a short period of time, but quickly came back and brought a few more friends for company, so now he has fortnightly Immunotherapy and daily Chemotherapy medication to try and control the disease.

The Big Adventure aims to demonstrate that having an incurable disease is not a barrier to exercise and sport – you CAN still ride, or walk, or run, and find your happy place doing whatever you love or what makes you happy with Cancer.

Personally doing what we love and spending time in our 'happy place' helps us, and Carl manage his side effects and symptoms, and makes us stronger both mentally and physically - "You CAN with Cancer".

Our website address is www.the-big-adventure.com where we will be posting updates on our progress, thank you for reading out story and your donation.
