Hello lovely people

This time last year, in 2023, I was a part of the Pilgrim Bandits Charity team achieving a world first by trekking to Everest Base Camp. This charity is dedicated to severely injured veterans and blue light workers, supporting and inspiring them them to achieve the impossible by taking on challenging expeditions and focus of what they are still capable off despite their injuries. It was humbling to be part of the this expedition and to witness the strength and determination these people have to overcome adversity. At Base Camp we spend several days with Hari Budha Magar and his team who was preparing to be the first ever double amputee to summit Everest, a feat his achieved on 19 May 2023.

Hari is one of the veterans who benefitted from the initiatives of Pilgrim Bandits Charity. Not to forget the able bodied people in the team supporting the expedition who came up with ingenious solutions on the spot to ensure the goal of reaching Everest Base Camp was achieved.

Although I had secured my marathon place for 2023 being away on the expedition on marathon day led me to defer to 2024.

Leading up to this marathon I was plagued with injuries and other personal challenges which unfortunately led to the less than ideal preparation for the London Marathon.

However I will start and will be determined to go "always a little further" inspired by the example set by the people of Pilgrim Bandits.
