Over the next few weeks I will be walking Britain's toughest hike, the 230-mile Cape Wrath Trail through the Highlands of Scotland, raising money for the Halo Trust, which helps people and landscapes recover from the deadly effects of landmines, in countries including Syria and Ukraine.
The Cape Wrath Trail has been walked by less than 1000 people, and will take me through some of the roughest, remotest, most sparsely populated, but most beautiful scenery in Europe. I start in Fort William in the shadow of Ben Nevis and end at the lighthouse at the aptly named Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point on mainland Britain, climbing 1.5 times the height of Everest on the way! Experience an ancient land of clans, castles, mighty sea-stacks and waterfalls, golden eagles, bogs and midges, alive with stories of Bonnie Prince Charlie, buried Spanish gold, ghosts and even mermaids by following my free blog and photos here. Together we can make a difference!
