Story
In 2024, it is estimated that over 200,000 cases of Melanoma will be diagnosed. Those diagnosed will be somebody’s best friend, a brother or sister, someone’s mom or dad, grandparent or someone else that they care deeply about. The American Cancer Society recommends getting a skin exam every 3 years (ages 20-40) and once a year after age 40. So, if you’re due, go get one!
Like me, if you’re reading this, you probably have had the gift of Cameron Joseph Stupansky being a part of your life at some point. Whether you knew him on a deep personal level, played sports with him or just happened to be lucky enough to cross paths with him once or twice, we all know and remember the lasting impression he would leave on you. Cammy Stu was an extraordinary and brilliant human being. I want to honor his name and his legacy by challenging myself both mentally and physically by completing the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Distance Series: the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle (8k), the Chicago Half Marathon and the Chicago Marathon. This personal challenge is not only to honor Cameron’s fight against Melanoma, but also to help support the MRF’s efforts in advocating and educating those fighting this disease, those with a loved one fighting it, and anyone else who has been or is currently affected by it.
Cameron, I’m not sure HOW I’m going to do it, but you’re my WHY I’m going to do it. I know you’ll be with me every step of this journey and I look forward to the conversations we’ll have during the hundreds of miles ahead.

Donate what you can, share this fundraiser with who you can, educate me with your helpful tips/tricks if you have them (pretty please) or just follow along on here, or on my Strava and support the journey. Please join me in honoring Cameron’s remarkable life!
*I have worked closely with the MRF and assure all donations go directly to the MRF's medical research efforts. I have already been selected for the Chicago Marathon through lottery so I do not have to raise a specific amount of funds in order to participate*
