As some of you will know I have been a victim of abuse and am fortunate enough have survived becoming yet another tragic statistic. I now wish to represent the women and children who have not been so lucky by stepping up every day for the month of October.

Two women a week in this country alone are killed by their partners or a family member. 137 women a day die around the world. Abusive and coercive behaviour is in every walk of life and goes largely unreported, because of the fear and shame that it surrounds it.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Their dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls.
