Story
I'm running the London Marathon in a bus dressed as a dentist and I need your help!
To help mark the 10-year anniversary of my friend Jackie Scully's breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment, myself and nine others are dressing as 'everyday heroes' and coming together in an interlinked bus costume to raise money for a number of noble causes.
I'm hoping to raise £2,500 for the Willow Foundation - a charity focussed on giving seriously ill young adults memorable experiences and adventures.
This is the second time I've got involved in one of Jackie's wild charitable ventures - in 2021 I was part of the team that (briefly) held the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous spin class, so needless to say I'm a glutton for punishment.
Jackie's passion and zest for life are genuinely inspiring so when I first heard about this challenge, I was very keen to be involved.
To add to the mix, there's the added incentive of another attempt at a Guinness World Record - the much sought after 'quickest marathon covered in a 10 person costume' accolade which we're hoping to capture on April 21st.
I ran the race under my own steam in 2016, so I'm really excited to be having another crack at it this year with nine new friends.
For a little more about Willow and the excellent work they do - see below.
Any pounds or pennies you can spare to help me towards my target would be greatly appreciated!
At Willow we believe in quality of life and quality of time. Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. This year we hope to fulfil 1,400 Special Days – a day to anticipate, to share and to remember when happy memories really do count. Sadly for some, it’s a last chance to fulfil a dream with the people that really matter. Thankfully for many more their Special Day is an important opportunity to put much-needed normality back into living.
