Story
We are very proud to be in our 30th year of providing long term support and opportunity to people with aphasia and their families . We were established on 27th April 1994 and since then we have successfully adapted and developed our services and now provide both face to face and online support. Our aim is to be able to help even more people with aphasia.
Aphasia is a neurological condition, acquired through stroke, brain injury or rare form of dementia and is very isolating and frustrating. Aphasia affects a person's communication, including their ability to find words, construct sentences and to understand language, both written and spoken.
We work to inform, support and empower people with aphasia to manage their communication disability and to re-engage with life. We create an aphasia friendly community in which people feel included, valued and have a sense of purpose.

"I can only swim with one arm and one leg and Dyscover have helped me with my confidence. They help me socialise with other people who have had a stroke or a brain injury and who also suffer from aphasia. Dyscover are so important for me and our little community and I hope my swimming challenge is a way for me to show my gratitude and support. Thank you for supporting me in my challenge."
