Story
On Saturday 6th May 2024, Calvin Wright will undertake the Isle of Wight Challenge 106km (66 miles) https://www.ultrachallenge.com/isle-of-wight-challenge/ to raise awareness and money for the Isle of Wight Homestart charity.
Calvin said he would never run another marathon after a significant running injury in 2018. Wind the clock forward to January 2024 and a conversation with a running friend saw Calvin, signing up for the gruelling challenge of the round the island in one day. When asked about the challenge ahead Calvin said," although I have been on a strict 16-week training plan, I honestly can't get my head around the idea of traveling over 60 miles on my feet in less than a day." There's no getting away from it, it's a very long way.
Calvin will set off form Chale show ground at 7 am and travel clockwise round the island, due to several closures on the coastal path, there will be several diversions including one at 40 miles that will take Calvin out of Shanklin and up onto the Ventnor down adding an extra 1000 feet of elevation to the route.
