Story
MHA is a charity providing care and support to older people. Through specialist care homes, thriving retirement living, vibrant community groups and befriending, they inspire the best care and wellbeing at every stage of later life.
If we are lucky, we will all reach old age, so at Caltag we feel the work of the MHA is very important to us all. But we are especially connected to two units within this charity: their dementia and befriending units.
With family members affected by dementia, the MHA's commitment to providing greater collaboration and stronger connections for their residents with dementia is of great importance to us. With activities tailored to people living with dementia and their relationship-centred approach, their work makes a big difference to both residents and family members.
The other unit we are supporting is the MHA's befriending unit. Befriending offers an inclusive, trusted service that connects people to reduce social isolation and loneliness, build confidence and support wellbeing. Our connection to this unit comes thanks to our colleague Adeeba. She has recently become a befriender and we want to support her inspiring dedication to connecting people and nurturing friendships.
So on the 29th of June, some of us at Caltag Medsystems will participate in a walking marathon to raise money for these two units of this amazing charity.
Donating money to this cause will help provide additional services that replace loneliness with a sense of togetherness, encouraging later life to be celebrated and lived well.
- £25 enables MHA to match a befriender with a socially isolated older person, giving them weekly telephone calls, friendship and support.
- £30 would enable them to host a digital Zoom dance class for the most isolated in the community.
- £100 would allow them to purchase a robotic pet for dementia residents in their care to provide daily reassurance, happiness and comfort.
Follow our team on their training sessions and on the big day on the 29th June, together we can make a difference!
