On 8th October 2024 I was hospitalised for 3 weeks with an infection/disease that Doctors/consultants/neurologists and researchers are still working together to try and diagnose. They have confirmed I am being treated as a special case.
Not only did I spend my birthday in hospital, I developed Bell’s Palsy and Uveitis. This involved me losing the sight in both of my eyes and it was extremely scary. Ophthalmologists informed me they could not guarantee I would get my sight back. It’s moments like these we realise how much we take for granted. I was unable to look at my phone, watch football on the television or even see my own parent’s faces when they came to visit me in hospital. I was at an all time low. I knew I was in the fight of my life to try and rescue my health and vision.
I was then introduced to Corinna (Eye Clinic Liaison Officer at St Paul’s, Royal Liverpool Hospital). Corinna supported me through every appointment; eye test, examination, scan and all the treatments I received at the hospital.
The support of Corinna and all of the staff at St Paul’s helped me win the fight of my life and the majority of my vision was restored. I will be forever grateful for all of the help they gave me.
I now want to raise as much money as possibly to help St Paul’s Eye Clinic so they can continue to help other people suffering with vision problems. In order to do this I am doing the Manchester to Liverpool 50 mile ultra. Any donations no matter how big or small would be really appreciated.
