Story
2 years on from the Tri-Altum fundraiser - where we cycled 90 miles, kayaked 20 miles and ran 26.2 miles from Bath to London - we are back in training to raise money for our nominated charities through the Altum Foundation.
On the 12th of September, I will be taking on The National Three Peaks Challenge ⛰ with Altum Consulting! To successfully complete this challenge, I will climb the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales - all within 24 hours!
The mountains, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, total 23 miles and include a total ascent of 3064 metres (That's equivalent to 30 Big Bens, 10 Eiffel Towers or 1,150 domestic staircases).
The goal is to raise as much money as possible for Street Child. Their purpose is to see all children safe, in school and learning - even, and especially, in low-resource environments and emergencies. They work with an expanding network of 95+ local organisations for lasting impact in 20 countries across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
The focus of my training to date has been little and often to fit around the family, work etc. This includes trying to find hills on my runs (including trail runs) and lots of time on the stepper (16.5 hours to date). Snapshot of the training so far (correct as of 4/9/24):
Stepper
- 13,059 m elevation
- 16.5 hours total training time
Run
- 2,464 m elevation, 236 km distance
- 22.5 hours training time
