Story
Hi everyone,
I'm excited to share that I'll be participating in the Manchester Half Marathon this October 13th, and I'm running with a purpose - to support The Christie Charity by raising £250.
Why The Christie Charity?
The Christie Charity funds life-changing and life-saving services for cancer patients, these enhanced services are over and above what the NHS funds.
Why the October Manchester Half Marathon?
If someone had told me, a girl who always said “I’m not a runner” and “I’m not a cardio girly”, a year ago that I’d sign myself up for a half marathon, I wouldn’t have believed them. However, a simple 3k run back in December shifted my mindset completely and I realised that I can do anything that I set my mind to, especially when it’s to support a good cause.
My aim for the half marathon definitely isn’t to break any records or even to achieve a certain-time - it is simply to cross that finish line, to not only support The Christie Charity, but also to accomplish something I never thought was possible for myself, and hopefully inspire others along the way.
How I’m preparing.
Mentally, I'll be reminding myself that my body is stronger than I think it is, and I'll hold close the knowledge that every metre I run and every step I take is in support of an incredible cause. Physically, I've been shifting my focus from solely strength training for powerlifting to a mix of strength training and endurance work. If you want to keep up with my journey to the half marathon, I have linked my Strava to this page, and I will be providing regular updates on my social media.
Your support means the world to me. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families. Together, we can help The Christie Charity continue to provide life-changing and life-saving services that go above and beyond what the NHS can fund.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
