Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. I'm wanting to raise some money for Cancer Research UK. Why? Because unfortunately, cancer affects us all. At some stage of our lives, it will either affect us directly or via someone close to us.
The Challenge:
The National Three Peaks in 24 hours. The aim is to walk / climb (and if necessary, run) the highest three peaks in Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m).
This will involve a combined trek of about 26 miles, an ascent of over 2 miles and a total driving distance of approximately 465 miles.
It is widely considered to be one of the UK's toughest outdoor challenges and whilst many people try it each year, the success rate of completing it within 24 hours is only about 40%.
I will complete it, but with so much driving to do, one of the biggest obstacles to the 24 hour time-frame will be traffic, road works and being able to park in the right places.
I intend to do this during the summer, after my exams, in July or August. The exact date will be confirmed nearer the time based on weather conditions and road works.
The Charity:
This country has some of the best scientist and medical professionals in the world working every day trying to find out more. Cancer Research UK is one of the biggest cancer charities in the world.
They have four main objectives - to discover, detect, prevent and treat - so that progress in understanding the fundamental biology of cancer, can lead to new prevention measures, tests and treatment.
They are dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information.

Thanks again for reading this, and if you can, I'd really appreciate it if you could sponsor me; this will give me added motivation when I have to set off in the dark, at about one o'clock in the morning, to complete the final climb (Snowdon).
