Story
In 2020 during the peak of COVID, I (16 years old ) was sat in A&E waiting for the dreaded news when a woman came over to me and told me I had Type one diabetes. I had never met anyone with T1, and although I was searching what it was on the way to the hospital, I didn't understand what it meant for me. Counting carbs with a side of insulin, endless scans or finger pricks, moments on the floor with a shaky feeling scoffing sweets, 24/7 monitoring of my sugars. But more than that it's constant worry, being told I cant eat that when it's saving my life, it's being stared at whilst injecting, it's driving a car with sugars above 5, and travelling with an extra suitcase of supplies and a few months after my diagnosis it was my hair falling out from the shock, luckily it grew back wavy and long and it will again. So, I've decided to start my roaring 20s with a buzz, shaving my hair and hoping I can raise money to help others like me whose pancreas decided to give up , get the help and support they need. I will also be donating my hair to the little princess trust to help kids who have loss their hair due to cancer treatment. I hope you will donate, Thank you, anything can help.
