Story
04/18 - I will be attempting an ice mile under IISA regulations and be the first person in Canada and one of a small few in the world to attempt this in butterfly. If you are driving by, stop by and cheer me on. I will be in the water at 10am on Saturday April 19 at Northwinds Beach. I am also raising money for our amazing hospital, please donate if you can. Every little bit helps.
04/08 - went for a 300m fly swim today after a very stormy winter day. The water temp is about 1-1.5˚. The team has made the decision for me not to swim tomorrow. We will try again on Friday April 11, 2025 at 10am.
The other side of winter is here and I have been happily swimming fly in the bay training for my next attempt. I have two potential dates both at 10am. Please feel free to come out an watch. We will make the call at 7am the day of as a go or no go.
Friday April 11, 2025 at Northwinds Beach in The Town of the Blue Mountains.
December 29th attempt: It was an amazing adventure with water temps at around 2.4-2.6 ˚ I am proud of my attempt and look forward to the next attempt under sunny skies in the spring. I accomplished 1420m in butterfly before the swim got the best of me. Still counts as a Canadian kilometre.
I will continue to fundraise until my spring attempt. Every dollar helps.
I will be attempting to be the first Canadian to swim an Ice Mile under IISA rules in butterfly. My first attempt will be at Centenial Beach in Barrie in the Spring. Your donations to the CGMH would be greatly appreciated to highlight this attempt and support a great hospital.
Everyone has a story behind why they are supporting the Collingwood Hospital Foundation. Yours might be personal, maybe a friend or family member has required the services of CGMH.
As a community fundraiser, you are helping to make a difference in the care patients receive. It might be the doctors and nurses who deliver the care, but it is through your support that they have the tools and equipment needed to ensure patients get on the road to recovery.
