Building Futures in The Gambia

The BFiG Busumbala Nursery School Great Wall Appeal

Fundraising for Building Futures in The Gambia
£780
raised of £2,000 target
We are building a school in The Gambia to educate Gambian nursery aged children.

Story

Steph Edwards and Mark Chidler were married on Tuesday 13th August 2024.

Instead of receiving wedding gifts, they ask for donations to the BFiG Busumbala Nursery School Great Wall Appeal.

BFiG Busumbala Nursery School has been built by the 'Building Futures in The Gambia' charity (registered charity no. 1159520). Mark has been heavily involved with The Gambia for a number of year and the creation of 'Building Futures in The Gambia' (BFiG) in 2014 is one of the outcomes of his work.

Construction of the school started in late 2014 and it finally opened its first classroom to nursery aged children in September 2023. However, there is still a lot more work to do.

Currently the school site has no wall. A wall is necessary to safeguard the children and prevent a nearby road from further encroaching upon the school grounds. A wall will mean that the children have a secure and safe play space. A wall will also mean that the school can develop its own garden. Gardening is a very important part of the Gambian school curriculum.

It would mean a great deal to Steph and Mark if you could donate to this appeal. And it would mean a great deal to the children of BFiG Busumbala Nursery School.

Please select Gift Aid if you are able. It will mean that the charity gets an extra 25% of your donation amount from the UK Government.

And finally, congratulations to Steph and Mark for their recent marriage!

Thank you.
