Story

Here at Cats protection Worthing, we were recently asked to take in an ultra flat-faced Persian cat called Bumble after her owner was unable to go on looking after her.

Bumble has an eye condition common in Persians called a corneal sequestrum. This means some of the tissue on the surface of her eye has died and formed a clump of dead tissue which often presents as a visible black circular area. This can be painful and cause the eye to become watery, red and inflamed.

When she came into our care, it was clear that Bumble would need considerable vet attention before she would be able to find her new home.

Bumble was initially assessed with our vets, and it was agreed that she would have a referral assessment by an eye specialist. Subsequently, she underwent a couple of surgical procedures to save her worse affected eye. Unfortunately, her eye disease was too advanced and we ultimately had to make the decision to remove her eye.

We are so pleased to update that, thankfully, Bumble is now recovering well from her final procedure and we will soon be searching to find her a loving, forever home.

Unfortunately, Bumble’s combined surgeries have cost the branch a significant amount of money. We have launched this Appeal to help pay for Bumble’s treatment. If we are fortunate to raise more funds than required, the money will be used to help other cats in our care.

We receive no government funding and rely heavily on kind members of the public to support our work and allow us to help cats like Bumble who are in critical situations. Even a small gift can help, and every penny makes a difference.
