Story
On the 21st April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy UK. Muscular Dystrophy UK & Team Jed are charities that are incredibly close to my heart as my best friend, Jed Thirkettle was diagnosed with Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 8.
I met Jed on our first day of university in 2018 and what a journey we’ve had… He inspires me and everyone around him every single day. Anyone who knows Jed knows how passionate he is about this charity, so much so he has recently raised over £20,000 by completing a 24-hour workout! This was a huge achievement for Jed and I’m so happy I was able to support for the full 24 hours with his amazing parents, Donna & Michael.
After completing the challenge, I decided it was my time to show him how passionate I am about Team Jed and how much I’ve been inspired by him. Unfortunately for me, this is by running 26.2 miles through London. I’m by no means a runner so this will be my biggest challenge yet. Jed has me in hysterics 24/7 so it’s only fair to let him have a day of enjoyment and watch me suffer!
Any donations are hugely appreciated and will be making a massive difference in funding research into the condition.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 111,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions. They are making a difference today, providing vital information and support to help people live as independently as possible. They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments.
