Story
A little about the cause.
So my Papa, Mr Brian Wendel, has dementia and has had for a few years now.
I considered raising money for Alzheimer’s Uk. However, I thought I’d make this more local as my last one was for the above.
Papa goes to the centre a couple of times a week and I’ve picked him up a few times in the last few months and whenever I’m there I just think that the staff are lovely, attentive and joyful - always!
Quite often on pick up there’s singing and dancing in one room and the visitors such as Papa/ Brian can involve themselves (or not)
so I just thought I’d raise some money for St Catherine’s.
Also side note Papa throughly enjoys going and often comes how with various things he’s done and quite often biscuits and when I say he has a sweet tooth I mean it!
The goal is to swim 20 miles over the course of four/five weeks and the centre and myself appreciate any donations made.
Below is some details on st Catherine’s that I also didn’t know 🫶🏽
St Catherine's Church Centre offers a variety of essential services and support to our service users. This includes an adult day care service providing breakfast, lunch, activities and the opportunity for vulnerable, isolated elderly individuals to socialise and make new friends. The Centre offers a Community Pantry providing families and individuals in food poverty with vital food and household goods.
We also provide a range of projects for individuals affected by mental ill-health including Art Group, Craft Group, Gardening Club, Community Singing Group and Guitar Tuition.
Our Catering department provides a hot/cold meal delivery service distributing quality, fresh cooked, nutritiously balanced meals to elderly and isolated individuals across the district.
On average St Catherine's supports 400 of the most vulnerable adults and children per week.
Due to the current cost of living crises, we are experiencing a huge increase in demand and also struggling with running costs.
