Story
Hey, so this is gonna be a long one.
As some of you may know, my dad had a suffered a stroke at home in April. This was a terrifying moment for me, my family, and the wonderful close friends who managed to get to us at record speed! This was the moment things changed for us as a family. With huge appreciation to hampshire Air ambulance and paramedics, dad was sent straight to southampton Hospital, where he would recover and get answers to the questions we were all asking. Now, some of you may know dad loves to call himself an "athlete." He continuously "runs off" colds, flu's, and any other sickness. So when the stroke occurred, none of us were prepared.
Whilst being looked after by the amazing team in the icu and stroke unit, dad had some tests done to get to the bottom of how the stroke occurred, and unfortunately, the news is pretty shit.
We found out that dad has brain tumours, and this form of cancer is sadly incurable. As you can imagine, this can be quite a shock, and I don't think any of us truly believed any of this. However, dad underwent a craniotomy attempt to remove the biggest of the tumours, and luckily, they managed to remove all of that one!
Now for the next steps.
On June 10th, dad will officially begin his treatment to attempt to remove the 2nd unwelcome bastard in his brain (this is what we are calling it). This treatment will involve chemotherapy and radiation therapy. He is ready and prepared to show them "what aggressive really is."
Those of us, alongside him , want to help his journey in a slightly different way and do what we can to support the chronically underfunded research for brain tumours. So... I have entered my name in the ballot for the London 2025 marathon alongside my incredibly strong mum @emmalouwilding and her amazing friend @nikkifranklin04, who has managed to secure a place with Brain Tumour Research!
