Story
My 6 yr old son Arlo is walking/running/he will probably ask me to carry him to raise money for my amazing job…Birmingham Mind! The Mental Elf event is on Sunday 3rd December at Cannon Hill Park.
He is very excited and has already been practising and picking out what new trainers he wants to wear when he takes part! And of course, he cannot wait to be dressed up as Elves with me and my colleagues.
As his Mommy, I am always encouraging him to be kind and gently making him aware that sometimes people are sad, and if we have the ability to help or make them happy, then do it! I am so proud of the caring, loving boy that he is blossoming into. We practice positive Mental Health every day, in the past i have gave him a “Mental Health Day” off school when he had been anxious/worried over things and we have worked it out together, just like I do at work. Even at age 6 it’s important that I make him aware he can talk to me about any issues that are troubling him, and there is always somebody who can make you feel better. A problem shared is a problem halved.
Thankyou in advance for your donations, Myself and Arlo will be so thankful.
God bless you all. ❤️
This is a unique event which focuses on bringing people together, not only to fundraise, but to raise awareness for mental health and wellbeing. It promotes the benefits of physical activity, connecting with people and doing something to help others.
We all know the festive season can be an extra difficult time for some people. During the Christmas week last year Birmingham Mind received contact from 356 people to their 24/7 mental health helpline.
All funds raised during Mental Elf will stay here in Birmingham to help support the services they offer to help support the people who are struggling with their mental health. Services such as their 24/7 mental health helpline and their Wellbeing Hub at The Bullring & Grand Central.
Together we can ensure no one has to face their mental health struggles alone.
