Story
Yes… it’s true. The Brocklesby Brothers will be running the London Marathon on April 27th 2025. While many amazing people undertake this challenge for personal development and accomplishment we are doing this together for our Dad. We have decided to come together as brothers and remember our amazing father, Ian Brocklesby, who passed away just over a year ago in October 2023. For those of you who were lucky enough to spend time with Dad you will understand why we have all taken on one of the biggest challenges, to run the iconic London Marathon to help raise money for the amazing charity Rennie Grove Peace. During his final weeks, the wonderful care team at Rennie Grove Peace allowed Dad to die with dignity at home, comfortable and surrounded by his family. It allowed for many of his long list of friends and family the opportunity to say goodbye in the comfortable, familiar environment of the Brocklesby Home, where so much love and laughter was shared.
Dad was not a runner, in fact he somehow even managed to avoid it when playing his beloved tennis, his favourite command being “Yours”. The only time any of us can remember him breaking into a run was when we were flying to the US or beyond on one of our epic family holidays and he would sprint on ahead leaving our amazing Mum, on her own to make sure the four of us made it on as well.
We all know though, how much it would mean to him to see his four sons undertaking something as idiotic as running a marathon together to raise much needed funds for a charity that made such an impact at the end of his life.
