Story
This year I reached the grand age of 66 and started drawing my pension which I find very hard to believe.
Whilst I have the usual aches and pains for my age I know that getting to such an age is a great privilege.
To mark this milestone I wanted to take on a challenge whilst finding a way to give back something to the Community.
so,
In November, together with Melanie, I am taking part in St Catherine's Hospice Trek to Petra 2024.
This remote trek follows an ancient Bedouin migration route all the way to Petra. The trek will cover 10 miles a day over 5 continuous days. The route will go through stony desert landscapes and across mountainous rocky terrain.
Over many years St Catherines has provided loving, expert care to much loved family and friends and I have seen the amazing comfort their support has brought to both them and their families.
Some of you will know Mel also works at the Hospice and seeing all the incredible work they do and knowing just how important fundraising is, we knew we wanted to do something to support them.
Any donation is welcome and no contribution is too small, a huge thank you for any donations in advance.
Hospice services across the UK are struggling with funding and are at some risk. Recognising this and knowing how important St Catherine's services are and how amazing the people are I have decided to match the first £500 raised through your generous support.
Melanie and I are paying our trip costs ourselves so every penny will go to St Catherine's.
St Catherine's Hospice cares for local people at the end of their lives in Surrey and Sussex, and supports those closest to them. Every step taken by our hospice heroes on their journey to Petra will help the hospice be there for local people and those close to them when life comes full circle.
