Story
"Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), also known as benign intracranial hypertension or Pseudotumor cerebri, is a rare condition with an unknown cause or causes. The condition is associated with raised fluid pressure around the brain. The fluid that cushions the brain is called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). It can cause disabling daily headaches and visual loss, which can be permanent" - (https://www.iih.org.uk/section/9/1/all_about_iih_also_known_as_benign_intracranial_hypertension/33b5e7d7350d887deba1670718587da9
IIH causes so much more than a sore head, it is a condition that can affect every aspect in a persons life, including being unable to or having to miss work opportunities, missing key mile stones due to several hospital visits ETC.
So many hospital visits...... my wife that suffers from this has had over 60 head operations, with one of them having her skull cut to expand it leaving small sections of her brain without any skull to protect her brain. Another surgery she needed to have while she was pregnant with our first child.
This is only one way in which IIH affects her life and so few people have every heard of it. My aim for this is not only to raise money for this charity to continue to support people with IIH but also to raise more awareness about this conidition and allow people to understand the impact it can have on a person life.
thank you all for taking the time to read and if you would like more information about IIH follow the link below
