LBBC 2023 Hardest Climb - Tallest Peak - Largest Lake
This event is the 5th event of the bi-yearly challenges which I started in 2014 in memory of my Dad, Lord Bilston Dennis Turner. In my family’s hour of need Compton Care Staff were so caring, attentive and compassionate. I want to help to ensure that other families can continue to count on Compton’s services and staff in their toughest times.
This years challenge is estimated to be the toughest challenge to date as the team and I aim to add to our fundraising total of £121,000.
At 4am on Saturday 22nd July the team will begin the 2 day big challenge. The first obstacle standing in their way is the renowned King & Queen of Cycle Climbs. Their 20 mile route will conclude with England’s No6 toughest climb the Wrynose Pass and then England’s No1 toughest climb the Hardknott Pass. The group will then leave the bikes and proceed on the hike and accent up Scafel Pike which is Englands tallest peak. Following the 12 mile hike the team will descend onto lake Windermere. They will Paddleboard the 11 miles of the largest natural lake England and return to the YHA for a good meal and overnight stay.
Day 2 is a simpler but none less demanding 150 mile cycle back to Wolverhampton from lake Windermere.
