Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running the Manchester half a marathon at Heaton park on the 10th of December 2023.
I have undergone surgery on my knee back in August 2023 so this will be my comeback race and I have never felt so fit and healthy in all my life, I genuinely thought it was over for me after the surgery telling all the people around me that I’ll be done now until February but I never let that define me and went straight back to work with training as soon as possible.
As a person who suffered severely with mental health issues this year I never thought in my wildest dreams I’ll be doing my second half marathon this year especially after having surgery on my knee but I still go beyond the expectations of what I set out to do.
I never knew until earlier this year I wanted to become a professional marathon runner because when I was going through difficult time I would always run away from my problems but I choose to run for something more valuable to me by running for charities and trying to succeed in my goal by helping the people that are suffering with the same problems get help. With all the training and discipline I’ve got I believe I’ll get there might take years but I know this will all be worth it so come on the journey with me and watch me running in some events this and next year.
This time I will be raising money for a charity Telford African & Afro-Caribbean resource centre TAARC.
Which have helped so much with my mental health issues with all the organisations that gave up on me because I was going through mental health issue TAARC stepped up and rescued me, I play indoor football organised by TAARC which helps me a lot as you get to meet new people and come together as a whole and have a great laugh and great moments together and talk about your problems also, we meet new people within the community each week.
About TAARC:
In 2016 five likeminded individuals came together to create a charity to showcase African and Caribbean cultures here in Telford & Wrekin. We seek to create safe spaces within the community in order to support disadvantaged children and young people, and vulnerable adults. This aim includes creating a place for social, educational and community activities; plus building and strengthening community cohesion.
We organise regular events throughout the year, including International Women’s Day celebration in March, Windrush Day in June, outdoor Community Family Fun Day in July, Black History Month activities in October, and Christmas celebrations in December.
We have our best of African and Caribbean food, music, dance and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
TAARC seeks to showcase the best in African and Caribbean cultures. One of our aims as a charity is to educate others about African and Afro-Caribbean history and culture through social events such as our Cultural Family Fun Day, Commemorative Windrush Day, Black History Month (BHM) Celebration, BHM School Workshops, and Over 60’s get together, – all in Telford Shropshire.
We also have groups such as weekly Football In The Community, and we have partnered with Telford Elim Community Church who delivers weekly Youth Club sessions. We are in the planning stages to deliver a few more sessions like ‘Art and Chat’ group sessions, Netball for women, Cooking/healthy eating sessions, Seated exercises – online and in person, Health and Wellbeing/Bench-to-Bench Walks.
What a charity that really is and they are doing an amazing job, by you giving just anything will help so much towards them helping the community and families in Telford Shropshire.
Any donations is a donation in my book and will go so far as they say everything adds up and you could be providing help to those who are less Fortunate then us.
Thank you so deeply in advance for your kind donation I can’t thank you enough.
Now let’s raise all the money we can for this amazing charity, share the link and page on your social media as that will really help.
And a massive thank you for TAARC as it took no time to set this up and very easy to get the information I needed and I personally can’t thank them enough for running for their charity god bless.
Now let’s go get this marathon.
