Story
From 14th-17th August this year I'm going to attempt to run the full length of the Shetland Isles to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestinians.
This will be a 132km journey split over four days of running, which means roughly two half marathons every day with a shorter 12km run on the final day. As far as I know this will be the first time anyone has done this. This will be the longest run I have ever attempted, and will be a massive challenge, but one I'm ready for!
75 years of illegal occupation and settlement building has not crushed the Palestinian spirit. However, with almost all infrastructure in Gaza destroyed, entire generations of families murdered, and most of the population living in refugee camps on the brink of starvation, it's more important than ever that we make our voices heard and give support to those who have persisted unimaginable horrors and adversity in the pursuit of simply living a decent life.
I have stood by, watched in horror, spoke my peace, but largely sat in inaction as a genocide is committed across the other side of the world. I hope this will, in some small way, do some good in supporting the millions of Palestinians who have suffered generations of living under a brutal apartheid.
At a time when at home, people are feeling the horrific outcomes of over a decade of tory mismanagement in the form of less money in their wallets, I know that asking for cash from people is going to be tough. If you can't donate, please share, or even consider joining me on all or a portion of my run. Everything helps!
