Story
As we now enter the 6th year of charity quilt making we have supported many worthy causes - Alzheimer's Society, British Heart Foundation and Blood Cancer UK - and this year we are proud to announce we are supporting another amazing charity - Parkinson's UK. But we need our fantastic customers support once again.
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition and occurs when someone doesn't have enough of the chemical dopamine in their brain due to some of the nerve cells ceasing to produce it. Around 153,000 people live with Parkinson's in the UK and it's the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. The 3 main symptoms of Parkinson's are a tremor (shaking), slowness of movement and rigidity (muscle stiffness) - everyone's experience is different and not everyone will experiences all of these symptoms.
The Bramble Patch selected this charity to support this year as we have customers, friends and relatives who are living with Parkinson's and therefore wanted to play our part in fundraising. To further endorse the selection of this charity, one of our fabric suppliers - Moda - have released a fabric collection "Collection for a Cause: Etchings by 3 Sisters" to support the Parkinson's Foundation in the USA. The collection revisits the stunning prints from previous 3 Sisters collections and also includes prints with motivational words including compassion, optimism and calm, a quote from Shakespeare on friendship, the signature of the scientist who discovered Parkinson's disease, and finally the inspirational words from the famous actor Michael J. Fox, diagnosed with Parkinson's at the age of 29 - " One's dignity may be assaulted, vandalised, and cruelly mocked but cannot be taken away unless it's surrendered".
We will be designing & creating our blocks each month using this fabric collection to create our "All In The Stars" charity quilt 2024.
Once you have made you're generous donation - for which we are truly grateful - don't forget to drop us an email confirming the donation and that you're ready to stitch. And many many thanks in anticipation.
