Story
Brad, Gary, Merv & Steve are all once again taking part in the annual Baggies Bike Challenge to raise funds for the Albion Foundation.
So in 2024 the challenge gets a little tougher with the guys riding from Rotherham Football Club to the Hawthorns, attempting to cover a distance of just over 160 miles in just under three days.
Their route takes us through the Peak District and up and over one of cycling toughest climb, Winnats Pass, rated as one of the hardest on the cycling tour, climbing 208 mtrs in just 1.9km!, and we know Merv doesn’t like hills!
So why are we doing it:
The Albion Foundations goal is to deliver 10 million hours and make a difference to 100,000 lives, in the next 10 years.
The Albion Foundation runs a number of initiatives in support of the local community, including Alzheimer’s cafes, food parcel deliveries, educational initiatives in schools to help those that are struggling to achieve, mentoring and improving attainment with children in care or foster homes, opening up opportunities in disability sport, running sports initiatives in anti-social hot-spots and supporting sports development for girls. The Foundation went above and beyond during the pandemic: 110,000 food parcels delivered, 10,500 phone calls made by ex-players to the elderly and over 7,000 educational sessions delivered!
