We're roaring to go!
Students and staff at Cheltenham Bournside School are proud to support the Lions at Large campaign this year; working together to fundraise towards an amazing project - The Big Space Cancer Appeal - which will have a positive impact on so many individuals and families across Gloucestershire and beyond.
"Three of our school core values are ambition, respect and support which align perfectly with the ambitious purpose of the Big Space Cancer Appeal and our incredible students are already busy coming up with some brilliant fundraising ideas. We are delighted to get our school community behind this important cause. Good luck to everybody involved." - Rob Waters, Deputy Headteacher (Culture), Cheltenham Bournside School
The Big Space Cancer Appeal is raising funds for a new cancer centre that will offer local patients the very best environment for treatment, healing and recovery, creating space to care, talk, think, recover, rest and innovate.
In the Summer of 2025, Lions at Large – The Pride of Gloucestershire Trail will be ‘roaring’ onto the streets of Cheltenham and Gloucester! Over 30 large Lion sculptures will be designed and painted by local artists; celebrating Gloucestershire’s rich history, culture and diversity.
They will be joined by the Cub Club – a pride of Lions created by schools and community groups. The Art Department cannot wait to get started on ours!
Why Lions? Lions represent the courage needed to face cancer, as a patient and loved one. Lions work as a pride (family) to survive. They tenderly care for each other’s young, the elders and work together to find food.
Note: We have been asked to raise £750, but we are hoping to raise a lot more!
