Story
I am here to ask for help again. As two UK gene therapy trials have now been approved it has pushed me to sign up for another challenge! I will be running the Manchester Marathon to help raise vital funds for Reverse Rett who help with pharmaceutical companies who are running the trials!
Running is definitely not my strong point and this will be a tough challenge. I am doing this for Sophie and all the girls with Rett Syndrome!
As most of you know Sophie was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in 2021.
Sophie is 10 years old and she should be doing what any other typical 10 year old is doing - going out with friends, enjoying sleepovers and running around with her brother and sister. Instead I’m watching Sophie lose the ability to walk, talk, communicate, the use of her hands and suffering from epileptic seizures. She has had an operation for a gastrostomy as she was unable to eat properly so has to be fed via a feeding tube.
She has the most infectious laugh and her smile lights up the room! She is one strong little girl considering all the challenges she goes through everyday that most of us take for granted!!
Having these gene therapy trials approved just gives hope that life can be better for Sophie.
Any donation at all would be amazing 😊
Thank you
